Traditional liftgates are slow and often inconvenient, especially in inclement weather or when the user’s hands are full. Foot-waving solution gained popularity in some market segments. Competitors made minor modifications to the solution, mainly by enhancing its durability.
Hands-free liftgate market has grown 5% annually and was expected to reach ~$1.5 billion by 2023 Hyundai sought a TRIZ approach to improve their solution's competitiveness
WHAT WE DID
We performed an evolutionary analysis of liftgate mechanisms and technology and identified a new opportunity: hassle-free liftgate opening
